How egg donation works in Michigan
Michigan intended parents and egg donors can choose between two Donor Nexus programs. In the Fresh Matching Program, each donor is matched with a single family and cycles at that family's IVF clinic, which means a Michigan donor matched with a family in Detroit, Ann Arbor, or Grand Rapids can often stay close to home. Donors in the Frozen Egg Bank have their retrieval at our partner site in Newport Beach, California, and their frozen eggs ship directly to clinics in Michigan and throughout the United States, usually within four to six weeks. Our intended parent team and our donor team keep your clinic and each other informed at each stage of either program.

Does Michigan insurance cover donor eggs?
Michigan has no state insurance mandate for IVF, so whether any part of a donor egg cycle is covered depends on your employer's plan or any fertility benefit it offers. Is an egg donor a legal parent in Michigan?
Michigan's Assisted Reproduction and Surrogacy Parentage Act, which took effect on April 2, 2025, settles this question by providing that a donor is not a parent of a child conceived through assisted reproduction. Every Donor Nexus fresh match also includes legal agreements between the donor and intended parents, and those legal costs are part of the program fee.

Egg banking for Michigan donors
