How Do I Know If I Qualify to Donate My Eggs?
First, it's important to know that egg donation requirements are in place to ensure the safety and success of the procedure:
- Female, between 19-29 years old (some exceptions may be made for healthy women in their early 30s)
- Egg donors must complete a series of screening evaluations for genetic risks, medical conditions, or infectious diseases and complete fertility assessments. The initial screening consists of an ultrasound and blood testing to determine eligibility.
- Body mass index (BMI) under 24.9 (exceptions may apply, such as for athletes)
- Non-smoker and willing to commit to the process
- College student or college graduate preferred
Please note that candidates may be subject to additional criteria to determine eligibility.
How to Become an Egg Donor With Donor Nexus
Step 1: Screening Process
The first step is to fill out our online egg donor application. Upon being accepted as an egg banking donor, you will start the screening process which consists of a physical exam, medical evaluations, consultation with a genetic counselor, psychological screening, and a legal consultation. If you are participating in a one-on-one cycle, you will wait until you are selected by intended parents to complete your prescreening evaluations.
Step 2: Egg Donation Cycle
Once you pass the screening evaluations, you are ready to begin your egg donation cycle. Typically, you will start taking birth control pills 7-10 days before beginning ovarian stimulation. Your physician will prescribe a personalized hormone medication protocol. You will self-inject these medications into your lower abdomen daily for approximately 12-14 days. During this period, you will have several monitoring appointments to track your progress and adjust your medications if needed.
Step 3: Egg Retrieval
The egg retrieval procedure lasts about 20-30 minutes and is performed under monitored anesthesia care. You will need a companion to drive you home afterward. For egg banking cycles, you will travel to Newport Beach, California, for the retrieval. For one-on-one donations, you will travel to the intended parents' fertility clinic for the retrieval. All travel expenses are covered by Donor Nexus. You will receive your compensation shortly after the egg retrieval procedure.

Become a One-On-One Egg Donor →
Compensation ranges from $6,500 - $50,000+ USD*
In a one-on-one donation, one set of intended parents receives all retrieved eggs.
As a one-on-one egg donor, your profile will be added to our online database under our "Fresh Egg Donor" program. You will then wait to be selected by one set of intended parents who will be the egg recipient(s).
Donor Nexus has the fastest matching time in the industry. However, matching time can vary, as we ensure the right fit for both parties.
You will likely work with the fertility clinic chosen by the intended parents. If you’re local to their clinic, you will be seen there for all your appointments. If not, you may need to travel for your medical screening and again for the duration of your stimulation medication and egg retrieval. Some clinics may allow you to be seen at a clinic local to you for some of your appointments.
*Compensation will increase with each subsequent donation. Compensation on the higher end of the range is typically for women who have donated eggs before and/or have been accepted into our Premier program.

Compensation ranges from $5,000 - $20,000+ USD*
As an egg banking donor, you do not need to wait to be matched with intended parents. Upon passing the prescreening evaluations, you will begin your cycle, and the retrieved eggs will be added to our egg bank and have the potential to be disbursed to 3-4 sets of intended parents.
We partner with HRC Fertility in Newport Beach, California, for all frozen egg banking donations. Local donors attend all appointments there. If you're outside of California, you will have your monitoring appointments at a clinic close to you. Then, we will fly you out to Newport Beach for your egg retrieval.
Our retrieval site exceeds the standards established by the FDA, College of American Pathologists (CAP), and California State Health Department Licensing Program.
