What Are Egg Donor Legal Agreements? May 19, 2023 | by Donor Nexus

What Are Legal Agreements for Egg Donors?

Once you complete the medical screening and are cleared to process you can now begin legal agreements. There are a couple of different options when it comes to reviewing and signing your agreements. We are here to support you every step of the way.

The first thing to understand is, "What are legal agreements?" One agreement is about your compensation and the other is about the egg donation. The donation agreement is to ensure that you understand your rights and responsibilities as an egg donor. The following are topics that are discussed in the agreement:

1. Conduct

You are agreeing to abide by the IVF physician's requirements throughout the cycle, such as not smoking, not having intercourse, and not having new piercings or tattoos.

2. Compensation and Reimbursement

This ensures you will receive your full compensation once you complete your egg retrieval. It also discusses the maximum reimbursement allotment for out-of-pocket expenses such as gas, food, Ubers, or Lyfts.

3. Identified/Nonidentified

The agreement also discusses if this will be a Nonidentified, Identified, or Open ID

4. Leftover Embryos

The intended parent(s) have the option to donate any leftover embryo(s) to infertility patients or for medical research. If this is something that you are not comfortable with, please inform the attorney's office to submit a revision request.

If you agree to the terms, you can then sign it and return it. Then the attorney's office can issue legal clearance. Once the clinic receives legal clearance, they will then reach out to you to plan your cycle dates. If you have any more questions about the egg donation process, please feel free to contact our team.
